Want to learn how to create a “starry sky” effect with your watercolors?

Then you will enjoy this mini tutorial! Just set aside 10 minutes, pull out your paints and a scrap of paper, and get ready for some painting fun.

I’ve loved playing around with this effect the past few weeks. It’s super easy to paint and very relaxing. And quick! I created this little patch of starry sky in less than 5 minutes.

You could use this effect for skies or backgrounds in your paintings, or to add little white highlights to the surface of an object you are sketching. It could even be used to create a snowflake look for Christmas art!

I hope you enjoy the tutorial and that it sparks some fresh ideas for your paintings.

Materials Used:*

Hahnemuehle Cezanne watercolor paper (it allows the paint and water to feather beautifully!)

Princeton Aqua Elite watercolor brush round size 8

• Winsor & Newton watercolor paints
